Court system cutbacks: Let us hear from you
The Florida Bar is gathering information from its members about the effects of budget cuts to Florida’s court system over the past two years. From delays in hearings and trials to other obstacles you encounter, please tell us how the cutbacks are affecting your practice and your clients. To participate, attorneys will need to log in. Comments will be accepted through Dec. 20.

January Appointments to be Filled
The Board of Governors is seeking two lawyers to serve on the Florida Bar Foundation Board of Directors. The deadline for application is Monday, December 15. See the news release for details.

Eighteen apply for Supreme Court vacancy
Eighteen applicants applied for the Supreme Court at-large vacancy created by the retirement of Justice Harry Lee Anstead. The Supreme Court Judicial Nominating Commission will conduct interviews Dec. 8 and 9 in Tampa at the Airport Marriott Hotel followed by closed deliberations and voting. The JNC will them forward its nominations to Gov. Charlie Crist. For the names of the applicants, see the news release.

An on-line intake form is now available for Floridians hoping to avoid foreclosure and to bypass the toll-free hot line of the Florida Attorneys Saving Homes program available from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays at 1-866-607-2187.
